I was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Thibodeaux, Louisiana. I attended Louisiana State University where I received an early acceptance in to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. Simultaneously, I joined the United States Army and embarked on a 13-year career as an engineer and 8 years as an intelligence officer for our engineer battalion. My military service took me down many paths and adventures of which I would still today say was one of the best experiences of my life.
Following vet school, I attended a competitive equine orthopedic surgery internship located just outside of Austin, Texas and then began a career as a race track veterinarian based in New Orleans but traveling throughout the country.
I moved back to Austin, Texas in 2001 to switch gears and practice small animal medicine. Shortly after being back in Austin I met my wife, Atlanta, and we started an amazing journey together raising our family. With both of us growing up in a small town, me in south Louisiana and Atlanta in South Dakota we decided we wanted the same experience for our kids. Vail, Co became the perfect match for our family after purchasing the Eagle Vail Animal Hospital in 2007. Since moving to the Vail Valley, we have grown our family and our practice to include 3 amazing children, Jeep, Berkeley, and Price, a menagerie if pets and 2 practices with an emergency clinic. We truly feel blessed to call Vail our home.

I was born in Virginia, near DC. My parents immigrated from Taiwan for graduate school. We moved all over for my father’s work and I learned that I liked the West the best. Growing up mostly in the Bay Area and San Antonio, I preferred playing sports over piano lessons. I studied history at Yale and was inspired to become a doctor after working at the National Institutes of Health. I met my husband Alec in medical school in Dallas. We moved to Denver for our medical training, not knowing how much we would like living in Colorado. We have enjoyed living in the Vail Valley the past 12 years and raising our two daughters here. I keep busy with my dermatology practice, Mountain Dermatology Specialists. In my free time, I enjoy being active outdoors, spending time with friends, cooking and traveling.

Many serious athletic achievements have emerged from this amazing ski town and I am so lucky to have grown up here. I attended Red Sandstone Elementary and continued on to the Eagle County Charter Academy. I fell in love with both skiing and hockey but my passion for hockey grew much stronger. Once the decision was made to pursue a hockey career an epic adventure began. Boarding school in Lake Placid, NY then junior hockey in Waterloo, IA. From there I fulfilled a childhood dream of playing for, and eventually captaining, the Colorado College Tigers. After Colorado College I turned pro and the adventure continued on its crazy trajectory. I eventually found my groove in South Korea where I was given Korean citizenship after an MVP season. This whole adventure culminated when I represented the host nation of South Korea at the 2018 Olympics. I continue to play professionally in Korea and spend my off seasons here in Vail!

Victoria is a true Colorado Native, born and raised in Littleton, CO. She’s always had a dream of calling the mountains home and finally made it happen in 2013. With over 10 years as experience as an Interior Design professional, Victoria launched her own business called Studio James in the late 2017 with a focus on high-end residential design. While she has a passion for beautiful things, Victoria is a true tom boy at heart.
