Celebrate the Beat

ON-GOING VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING (FALL ’20-SPRING ’21)

This year, due to COVID-19, Celebrate The Beat (CTB), as an organization made the decision to be 100% virtual and created 10-week courses with programming in dance, music, fitness, yoga, and Brain Breaks. These courses are made for teachers to use during the school day, families to use outside of school hours or when children are learning remotely. Even though we miss the hands-on experience with our students, we are excited to bring our offerings to even more students this year by extending our programming to all children, Pre-k through 6th grade.

In addition to the 10-week course, participating schools will take part in a weekly interactive experience consisting of a unique rotating schedule of dance, music, yoga, and fit challenges featuring guest teachers from around the country.

Please connect with your school’s Principal to learn more, or contact Kris Ashley, kashley@vvf.org directly to see how your child can have access to our in-school and after-school programs whether at school or remote learning.

COMING THIS SUMMER: August 2 – 6

Celebrate the Beat Pop Hop Camp is a FREE week-long dance camp for Eagle County children designed to foster teamwork, creativity, and the joy of accomplishment through dance. Pop Hop Camp culminates in a performance at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater during Vail Dance Festival’s International Evenings of Dance.

This program is open to dancers aged 9-13. Enrollment is limited due to CoVid-19 restrictions. Participants will be chosen by a lottery system and notified of selection or regrets by June 1, 2021.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

In August 2020, Celebrate the Beat of Eagle County officially joined YouthPower365. This transforms the amazing 12-year relationship between the two individual organizations, while also deepening YouthPower365’s mission.

This move expands the impact of YouthPower365, by tapping into the arts to help youth reach their full potential.  As well, research indicates that the movement and mindfulness championed by Celebrate the Beat improves overall well-being and academic performance for young people, a key goal of YouthPower365.

The transition has provided sustained organizational and financial strength to Celebrate the Beat of Eagle County, while still honoring the artistic vision and expertise of the state-wide organization. Celebrate the Beat, led by founder, Tracy Straus, will continue to provide artistic and musical direction to the YouthPower365 program.

Program Director Kris Ashley, along with her team of musicians and instructors, are now employees of YouthPower365, which is responsible for all Celebrate the Beat programming in Eagle County – during the school day, after school, and during the summer. Kris can now be reached for information on programming opportunities for youth and schools at kashley@vvf.org.

Under the YouthPower365 umbrella this Fall, the program operated packaged virtual programming, complete with a limited offering of live classes, five days a week at six schools. Staff are working with 124 classrooms and impacting 1,612 youth, ages pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. The program looks forward to its return to in-person opportunities this summer with Pop Hop Camp and into the Fall at local schools.

The CTB program was introduced in Eagle County in 2007 by Vail Dance Festival Artistic Director, Damian Woetzel.
